Blood of Dawnwalker PC launch hit by stuttering, crash bugs
Developer Rebel Wolves acknowledges several technical issues affecting the PC version of its new RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, on launch day, offering

The PC launch of The Blood of Dawnwalker, the debut title from developer Rebel Wolves, has been marred by several technical issues. The studio has acknowledged the problems and provided players with temporary workarounds while permanent fixes are developed.
According to a post from the game's official account on September 3, 2026, the development team is aware of multiple bugs affecting gameplay. The issues range from performance problems to control mapping failures, common hurdles for major PC game releases.
Known issues and player fixes
The developers have outlined specific problems and their suggested solutions. For players experiencing stuttering, the issue is linked to the game's display mode. The studio advises switching to full-screen mode if the game is running in a windowed or borderless window.
Another serious bug causes the game to crash while compiling shaders. The proposed fix from the developers is for players to update their computer's BIOS. They provided a link to assist users with this process.
Controller support is also incomplete at launch. Players using a PlayStation 5 controller have found the game lacks button mapping options. The developers stated they are "already working on it," but for now, players may need to use mouse and keyboard or a different controller. A separate gamepad issue causes the player character to stop sprinting when changing direction. The temporary fix is to lower the controller's sensitivity setting from 1 to 0.8.
Critical reception amid technical woes
Despite the rocky technical start, the game has received significant critical praise. Rock, Paper, Shotgun's Mark Warren awarded the game its "RPS Bestest Bests" badge of honor. In his review, Warren argued the game's strengths outweigh its technical problems.
"All in all, I’ve emerged from my first battle with Brencis with the belief that Dawnwalker’s thoroughly worthy of a seat at the table of elite modern RPGs alongside its CDPR-made cousins," Warren wrote. He praised the game for ensuring routine tasks never feel like boring boxes to tick.
The game is the first project from director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz since his work on The Witcher 3. The development team at Rebel Wolves is actively working on patches to resolve the known issues, suggesting the problems should be fixed in time. For now, players have a list of workarounds to improve their initial experience with the vampire RPG.
