Played and Rated

Sources and methods

The news section of playedandrated is compiled from published editorial feeds and indexes of established news publications covering the technology and entertainment sectors. Our focus is exclusively on stories relevant to our editorial spine: whether a game is worth a user's money and time, and if it will run on their machine. Each incoming story is processed with automated assistance to extract its core facts and verdicts. It is then rewritten into a concise summary, always credited to the original publication from which it was sourced.

When a factual claim, such as a performance metric or a price point, appears in only one publication report, it is treated as unverified for our purposes. It is not used in our permanent reference material. Such information may be included in a news summary but will be clearly attributed to that single source, indicating it awaits corroboration. This ensures the foundational data across playedandrated maintains a high standard of reliability.

Our permanent reference pages, such as those for specific games, hardware platforms, or publishers, are built differently. They are constructed from stable, verified facts that have appeared across multiple independent reports. These facts are presented in a structured table format. Each reference page is accompanied by a single credited photograph, sourced from official channels or under appropriate licence, to provide clear visual identification.

The news feed is refreshed continuously as source publications release new relevant stories. The permanent reference pages are refreshed on a scheduled cycle. This involves checking for new, widely reported facts, updating performance data, and confirming current prices and subscription details. This process ensures that the guidance offered by playedandrated remains current and useful for our audience in Latin America.
