Blizzard is bringing Diablo 4 to the Nintendo Switch 2 this September. The port, titled the Diablo 4: Age of Hatred Collection, bundles the base game with its Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions.

Polygon went hands-on with the Switch 2 version at BlizzCon 2026. The publication confirmed with Blizzard that the port will support Joy-Con 2 mouse controls at launch. This feature, which allows a Joy-Con 2 to function as a mouse cursor on a surface, gives the Switch 2 version a unique edge over other console editions, harkening back to the franchise's PC roots.

BlizzCon Demo Details

The demo featured a quest from the upcoming Season of Hell's Legacy, which begins the same day the port launches. Titled "A Journey Through The Past," the quest involved exploring a dungeon and fighting past series villains like Mephisto and Belial. The demo affirmed the port is not missing any content compared to the PC version, though it reportedly lacks the Nintendo-themed bonuses that Diablo 3's Switch release had.

Visuals and Performance

As expected, the Switch 2 version does not match the visual fidelity of the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. The demo was a visual step down from a high-end PC version running nearby. Polygon's reporter could not confirm exact frame rates or resolution but noted the experience in docked mode felt more on par with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Loading times were surprisingly fast, and performance remained stable without noticeable lag or unresponsive controls during busy fights.

The Handheld Verdict

The real strength of this port is its handheld performance. Running the same dungeon portably felt impressively uncompromised. Resolution and frame rate remained stable even during hectic screen activity. The one significant drawback is that in-game text is quite small, making it less ideal for players who want to read every detail. For action-focused players, however, the port is described as more tailor-made for handheld play than the Steam Deck Verified PC version.

Launch and Features

The Diablo 4: Age of Hatred Collection launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 14, alongside the start of the Season of Hell's Legacy. While the unique Joy-Con 2 mouse controls could not be tested in the locked-down demo, their inclusion at launch offers a distinctive way to play. The port delivers a competent, portable Diablo 4 experience for Nintendo's latest system.
