Final Fantasy 7 Revelation developers have urged players to avoid spoilers and experience the trilogy's conclusion for themselves. The plea came during a PAX West panel where director Naoki Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo detailed new gameplay systems and characters.

A presentation slide shown to the audience stated the team's hope directly. "We hope you experience the climax as something that's not explained to you by someone else, but rather, as something that belongs to you," it read.

New Playable Characters: Cid and Vincent

The upcoming title introduces two new playable party members, Cid and Vincent, each with distinct combat roles. Cid fights with a magical lance capable of impaling multiple foes. He is designed as an aerial specialist who deals increased damage while airborne, making him ideal for long-range engagements.

Vincent, in contrast, is a versatile fighter suited for mid-range combat with his gun. His close-range prowess comes from his ability to transform into the Galian Beast. This transformation allows him to unleash a series of powerful melee attacks at any moment.

The FITS Combat System Explained

Revelation introduces the FITS system, which assigns specialized combat traits that significantly alter a character's battle style. There are four FITS categories, each focusing on a different specialty. Players' choices will change their characters' outfits, though the developers confirmed outfit skins can be selected independently of the chosen FITS.

The system's four specializations are as follows:

A Personal Finale for a Long Journey

As the panel concluded, director Naoki Hamaguchi reflected on the fans' journey through the Remake trilogy. He emphasized the importance of a personal experience for the finale. "We would love for players to receive them on their own as their own personal experience," Hamaguchi said, referring to the game's narrative answers.

He connected the upcoming conclusion to the relationships built throughout the series. The reunions, companion bonds, and final resolve all lead to this third title. The developers expressed a sincere hope that players carry their accumulated journey and feelings into these final moments.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027. It will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series S.
