The limited edition green see-through Xbox Series X, a creation for Xbox's 25th anniversary, is reportedly releasing on Black Friday.
The information comes from French website Dealabs' leaker billbil-kun, who claims the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition releases on November 27th priced at €899.99 (or an estimated $899.99).
The price is comparable to the PS5 Pro in Europe, which costs the same amount. In the UK, a PS5 Pro costs £789.99, suggesting that the limited edition Xbox may be similarly priced.
The limited edition Xbox Series X has a translucent murky-Xbox-green case, allowing users to peer inside at its techno-innards. It also comes with a special Xbox controller that has been given the same treatment.
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition was unveiled at Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase earlier this summer.
Restructuring and Price Hikes
The Xbox division has been rocked by wide-ranging restructuring, resulting in 1600 people losing their jobs already, and a further 1600 people set to lose their jobs by next summer.
This restructuring has affected game development and staff morale, with protests continuing to be organised in response.
Microsoft also substantially raised the prices of its Xbox consoles earlier this year, boosting the cheapest Xbox Series S from £300 to £430, and the disc-drive Xbox Series X from £500 to £670.
Component Pricing Crisis
The primary reason for this price hike is the ongoing memory and storage component shortage around the world, created by huge AI datacenter demand for the same things.
Xbox boss Asha Sharma has warned that the component pricing crisis will continue, with prices expected to double by the fall of 2027.
This will affect the pricing and availability of Xbox's next-gen Project Helix machine, and Microsoft is exploring "radically different business models" related to selling Xbox consoles because of it.
