Queen's Domain will launch on October 30. This first-person fantasy RPG, developed by Freshly Baked Games and published by Future Friends Games, draws heavy influence from FromSoftware's classic King's Field series while building an entirely original world.

It promises a challenging, atmospheric experience likened to The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and the game Lunacid. A demo is currently available on Steam, and a new gameplay trailer has been released.

Setting, Story, and World Design

Players take on the role of a son searching for his missing father on a hostile, labyrinthine island. This interconnected world is filled with surreal dangers and hidden secrets. The environment features skeletal abominations, laser trees, and punchable fishpeople, all overshadowed by a sleeping evil Queen.

Visual influences are eclectic, drawing from Mayan architecture, Ico, Halo's Silent Cartographer, Vagrant Story, and Final Fantasy XII's Ivalice. A distinct pixelated visual style aims to evoke rusty filigree and desiccated stone.

Combat and Progression Systems

Combat emphasizes aggressive advances followed by tactical retreats. Core mechanics include a holy sword with a blink-jump ability and inexhaustible throwable weapons governed by a cooldown system. Players must manage a stamina bar and engage with a level-up progression system.

The game has extensive weapon variety according to promotional details. The developer claims over fifty melee weapons to discover, equip, and upgrade, alongside more than twenty types of secondary throwing weapons for varied combat strategies.
