Take-Two has initiated legal action to find the GTA 6 leaker, as it subpoenas Microsoft and Discord for any data that might reveal the identity of the person responsible for leaking GTA 6 gameplay videos online.

The hunt for the GTA 6 leaker is on, with Take-Two reportedly filing multiple subpoenas in a federal district court to force information out of Microsoft and Discord.

According to a subpoena filed with the Southern District Court of New York on 20th August, Take-Two is seeking information "sufficient to identify the user(s) person" from Microsoft, including details like account IDs, registration emails, IP addresses, phone numbers, and linked Xbox and Google accounts.

Microsoft has until 4th September to produce all information related to the CyberLeek persona, which has taken credit for the GTA 6 leaks.

Discord, meanwhile, has been petitioned to hand over "all user accounts that are/were members communicating with the Discord servers" such as CyberLeek, CinematicRockstar, Surfer24K, Odyssey, and DarkViperAU.

The CyberLeek persona has maintained that it's doing the leaks in the name of gamers' rights, but behind it all is a shady cryptocurrency scheme involving a $CYBERLEEK meme coin the group wants people to buy (and thereby increase the value of) in order to vote for new video leaks.

Ostensibly this is being done to fund "a secret project", but as Polgyon reported, there's evidence to suggest dodgy-seeming personal gain.

The Leaks Continue

We're into a third day of leaks now, and a seventh leaked video, with the latest showing GTA 6's co-protagonist Jason tearing around Vice City in a supercar.

Yesterday, CyberLeek shared footage that included Jason shooting the word "leek" into a wall, suggesting some kind of playable access to GTA 6.

The Investigation

Take-Two is seeking to protect its rights by obtaining the identity of the alleged infringer or infringers, and the information will only be used for this purpose.

The company has submitted a sworn declaration confirming this, and both Microsoft and Discord have until 4th September to produce all relevant information.

The Leaker's Motivations

CyberLeek has maintained that it's doing the leaks in the name of gamers' rights, but the true motivations behind the leaks remain unclear.

A shady cryptocurrency scheme involving a $CYBERLEEK meme coin has been linked to the leaks, with the group wanting people to buy and vote for new video leaks to increase the value of the coin.

The group claims this is being done to fund "a secret project", but there's evidence to suggest dodgy-seeming personal gain.

We're waiting to hear back from Rockstar for comment on the situation.
