Mortal Shell 2 developers explain the reasoning behind disabling achievements for Slayer Seal users

Mortal Shell 2 developers Cold Symmetry have explained that disabling achievements for users of the Slayer Seal, characterized as an in-game 'easy mode', was a mistake. The developers had intended to offer different achievements for Slayer Seal users, but were unable to do so due to the game's content being set in stone for disc sales.
The Slayer Seal gives players a significant advantage, including a powerful punch and the ability to deal Break damage with ranged weapons. However, equipping the Seal prevents players from earning achievements, even after it is unequipped. This decision has sparked controversy among players, with some feeling that they are being punished for choosing to play with the Seal.
Developer Explanation
Cold Symmetry studio co-founder Andrew McLennan-Murray explained that the original vision for the Slayer Seal was not just an easy mode, but an alternate game mode that would allow players to experience the game in a different way. The developers had planned to offer a separate set of achievements for Slayer Seal users, which would be mutually exclusive from the normal playthrough achievements.
However, the developers were unable to implement this plan due to the constraints of selling the game on discs. The achievements had to be defined months in advance, and the developers were unable to change them once they were locked in. As a result, the developers were forced to disable achievements for Slayer Seal users.
Potential Solutions
McLennan-Murray suggested that the developers may introduce a new set of achievements for disabled players who need to use the Slayer Seal to play the game. This could be part of a free DLC update, and would help to make the game more accessible to players who need the Seal to progress.
Game Updates
The game has already received several updates since its launch, including a balance patch that makes the in-game economy more lenient and nerfs some enemies and bosses. The developers have also patched the game to prevent players from accidentally stealing enemy weapons when riposting.
